Understanding Our Beef & How We Sell It
Why Our Beef Stands Apart
Beef from Pitts Cattle Farm is raised with care, intention, and transparency — not mass‑produced or rushed through a feedlot system. Our cattle are known for strong genetics, excellent health, and consistent marbling, resulting in beef that is richer in flavor, more tender, and far more reliable than what you’ll find in most grocery stores. When you buy from us, you’re getting beef from cattle raised on open pastures, handled with respect, and processed locally for maximum freshness.
Premium Pasture‑Raised Beef
Our cattle are raised on open, well managed pastures with plenty of space, clean water, and low stress handling. Every animal starts on grass, and you can choose a grass fed finish or a grass fed, grain finished option. Better care leads to better beef — consistent quality, strong genetics, and flavor you can count on.
What Hanging Weight Means
We price our beef using hanging weight, the industry standard. This is the weight of the carcass after harvest but before cutting into steaks and roasts. It ensures fair, transparent pricing based on the true value of the beef you receive.
Quarter, Half, or Whole Shares
Choose the amount of beef that fits your family: ¼, ½, or a whole cow. Each share includes a balanced mix of steaks, roasts, ground beef, and specialty cuts, all processed by a trusted local butcher to your specifications.
How Much Beef You Get
Your final packaged beef is typically 60–65% of the hanging weight, depending on your cut choices. You choose steak thickness, roast sizes, and ground beef packaging so your freezer is stocked exactly the way you want it.
Farm‑to‑Freezer Transparency
When you buy from Pitts Cattle Farm, you know exactly where your beef comes from. No mixed sources, no long supply chains, no guesswork. Just honest, traceable beef from a family farm that stands behind every pound.
Better Than Store‑Bought Beef
Store beef often comes from multiple animals, large feedlots, and long transport times. Our beef is local, consistent, and raised with care — resulting in better flavor, better quality, and better value for your family.

How Our Beef is Sold
Our beef is sold in ¼, ½, and whole shares, priced by hanging weight. You choose the share size that fits your family, and your final packaged beef typically comes out to about 60–65% of that weight, depending on your cut choices. Simple, honest, and easy to understand.
